Thanks to TGS for drawing out Hart on how and why “death → sin” in Romans 5:12 reshapes the whole idea of “original sin” without letting us off the hook. What we share “in Adam” isn’t inherited guilt but mortality’s grip—and the gospel is not a courtroom fix for congenital blame but the mercy that breaks death’s hold.

That means I don’t have to be guilty to be complicit in sin—and, more to the point, responsible. It’s a sharp way to see the systemic nature of evil, and to remember that the problem isn’t just Trump and Trumpism, or even capitalism, but “powers and principalities” full stop. Resistance is never just politics; it’s a sign of God’s victory already stirring, and of the goodness creation was meant for.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it. But I get to be grateful whatever else is true. I’m reminded of the bumper sticker: “Praise God… anyway.” Thanks for another provocative post.
