You may recall the appearance here of the paper I delivered for a conference on Sergii Bulgakov (Building the House of Wisdom) convened in Fribourg, Switzerland in September of 2021. Now the volume containing all the papers delivered at that conference has been made freely available as an open source pdf by Aschendorff Verlag. If you want to get hold of the book but find reading on a luminescent screen difficult (as I do), you may wish to know that the printed version will soon be available, though not, alas, for free (it will cost €72.00).
You may also recall that, in my short tribute to the wise and wonderful Tom McLeish, soon after he had passed away, I mentioned a collection of essays on eclipses that he had been editing with Henrike Lange right up to his last days—a book to which I was a contributor. It too is now available, and I can report that it is quite a handsome, and very much a rich and fascinating, book.
Thanks, David. I have two questions: first, I have never read anything by Bulgakov (although I read about him a lot when I read your writings) so could you please give me a couple of recommendations for where to begin? Second, are you going to do anything for the upcoming eclipse? Travel anywhere or anything?
Just bought the eclipse book.
