Bach’s Unaccompanied Violin Sonatas and Partitas, Schubert’s Winterreise, Britten’s Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes, Gibbons’s keyboard works, Beethoven’s late Quartets, Shostakovich’s 24 Preludes and Fugues and 8th quartet, Monteverdi’s Vespers for the Blessed Virgin, Revolver…
Shostakovich is an underappreciated listen. I sang his "Spanish Songs" on my Master's Performance Recital. Got me into his music, which I still listen to quite a bit.
It is not wholly uncontroversial to call Frank Martin the greatest modern Swiss composer. There is also Arthur Honegger (who also didn't really live in Switzerland)
I know I’m just some guy on the internet but the album is one of the most theologically interesting and spiritually rich works of popular music to come along in a while, and who she is… that’s even harder to describe. In all humility, it’s worth looking in to.
